In the course of the work on my degree project, I travelled to the country in which my family had lived for generations. To a place which I knew about in a special way, without ever having been there before. Everything I had already known about the history and politics of Iran, its people and their lives was revealed to me with a new meaning in the context of daily life in Tehran.

I found the city to be full of elements with a high iconographic value which represented the fates of individual persons, history and the present situation. The strong contrasts and the various timelines of the social system determine the life of this country. For me, the challenge was to create images which visually unite these contrasts and question them.
